How it works

  1. On the Products sheet, fill the input columns A to H. Each row is one order line: one product in one order.
  2. Columns I to Q calculate fees, net profit, margin and break-even price. The last row totals the columns.
  3. On the Assumptions sheet, check each rate against Etsy's fees page. Change a rate there and every row follows.

The Products sheet has 50 rows. The Notes sheet lists what the sheet ignores.

The fee model, as the sheet calculates it

Rates are the ones on the Assumptions sheet, checked against Etsy's fees page on 2026-10-14. That page showed "last updated 2026-10-05".
ItemHow the sheet works it outAssumptions cell
Revenueprice x quantity + shipping charged. Sales tax is not counted as revenue.none
Listing fee0.20 per item sold, so 0.20 x quantity.B4
Transaction fee6.5% of revenue (price + shipping charged). Sales tax is not in the base.B5
Payment processing (US)3% of (revenue + sales tax collected), plus 0.25 once per order line.B6, B7
Offsite Ads feeZero unless you mark the row "Yes" in column G. Then 15% of revenue (price + shipping charged, not sales tax), and never more than 100 on one order. If you also mark column H "Yes" (the shop has reached 10,000 in sales), the rate is 12%, with the same 100 limit.B8, B9, B10, B11
Total feesListing + transaction + payment processing + Offsite Ads.none
Net profit and marginNet = revenue - cost of goods x quantity - total fees. Margin = net / revenue, blank if revenue is zero.none
Break-even price (each)The price at which net is zero, with shipping, sales tax and quantity as you entered them. Never below zero.B4 to B9, B11

Two details. The Offsite Ads rate is chosen by your Yes/No answer in column H. The threshold figure in B10 is a label and no formula reads it. Etsy's page says a shop stays on the 12% rate once it has reached the threshold, so answer column H for the shop, not for the order.

Etsy is the authority. The sheet's Assumptions sheet records that, on the 2026-10-14 check, Etsy's fees page put the Offsite Ads fee on the order total (item price plus shipping and gift wrapping) and, for US sellers, not on sales tax, with a limit of 100 on one attributed order. The sheet does not model gift wrapping or personalization charges. If you charge them, Etsy's bases are larger than the sheet's, and the sheet understates the transaction and Offsite Ads fees. Confirm everything on etsy.com/legal/fees.

Three worked examples, as plain arithmetic

One item, quantity 1, no shipping, no sales tax, no Offsite Ads. Arithmetic on the rates above, not a forecast for any seller.
Item priceListing feeTransaction feePayment processingTotal feesFees as a share of price
10.000.200.065 x 10 = 0.650.03 x 10 + 0.25 = 0.550.20 + 0.65 + 0.55 = 1.401.40 / 10 = 14.0%
5.000.200.065 x 5 = 0.3250.03 x 5 + 0.25 = 0.400.20 + 0.325 + 0.40 = 0.9250.925 / 5 = 18.5%
30.000.200.065 x 30 = 1.950.03 x 30 + 0.25 = 1.150.20 + 1.95 + 1.15 = 3.303.30 / 30 = 11.0%

The fixed parts (0.20 and 0.25) weigh more on a low price. Amounts are in US dollars.

What the sheet does not do

  • It ignores currency conversion, VAT, other regional payment processing fees and Etsy Plus.
  • It counts the listing fee per item sold and the payment processing fixed fee once per order line you enter. Etsy may also charge listing fees on listings that do not sell; the sheet does not count those.
  • It is arithmetic on the numbers you enter and the rates on the Assumptions sheet. It is not a forecast, and not tax or accounting advice.
  • Rates were checked on 2026-10-14. It does not update itself when Etsy changes a fee.

How we checked it: a Python reference model uses the same rates. Tests recalculate the workbook in LibreOffice for a grid of input combinations that includes orders large enough to reach the Offsite Ads cap, and compare every output with that model.

Questions, answered

Does the fee sheet work in Google Sheets or Numbers?

We have not tested it there. It is an .xlsx file with ordinary formulas (IF, OR, MAX, SUM) and Yes/No drop-down lists. Our tests recalculated it in LibreOffice. We did not test Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

Will Etsy's fees change?

Yes, they do from time to time. The sheet holds the rates we checked on 2026-10-14, and the Assumptions sheet says where they came from. Check Etsy's fees page before you rely on any number, and change the rates on the Assumptions sheet if they differ.
